FAQ
Equipment & Products
What types of battery cells can I prototype with Variant Energy equipment?
Our equipment supports 2032 coin cells and single layer pouch cells. The pouch cell line covers electrode coating, calendering, die cutting, tab welding, stacking, and heat sealing.
Are your machines compatible with argon glovebox environments?
Yes. All of our machines are designed for glovebox operation. They use materials and controls compatible with inert atmosphere environments. Contact us for specific glovebox integration requirements.
What is the lead time for equipment orders?
Standard equipment ships within 4-8 weeks depending on current production schedule. Custom configurations may require additional time. Contact us for current availability and expedited options.
Do you offer installation and training?
Yes. We provide remote setup support included with equipment purchase. On-site installation and training is available for an additional fee. Most customers are operational within a few hours of receiving equipment.
What power configurations are available?
Most equipment is available in 120 VAC / 60 Hz (North America) or 230 VAC / 50 Hz (international) configurations. Specify your requirements when requesting a quote.
What is the difference between the Two-Side Heat Sealer and the Vacuum Heat Sealer?
The Two-Side Heat Sealer is used for initial tab sealing and side sealing of pouch cells before electrolyte filling. The Vacuum Heat Sealer is used for final sealing after electrolyte filling—it evacuates air/gas from the pouch before creating the final seal. Most pouch cell prototyping labs need both machines.
